AFL Arena Football League

Fantasy "Survival Arena Football" Returns for 2012

March 9, 2012 - Arena Football League (AFL) News Release

CHICAGO - The Arena Football League's web-based fantasy football game "Survival Arena Football" will return for its second season on ArenaFootball.com, the League office announced today.

The League functions under "Survival" rules, where players and defenses may only be selected once by each participant during the season. Once a player is picked, fantasy owners cannot select that player again until picks are reset following Week 12. Points then double for the second half of the season.

Fans will be able to select lineups of five players each week: one quarterback, two receivers, one kicker and a team defense. The game relies heavily on "playing the matchups." Scores will be calculated to determine both weekly and season point leaders.

Standard fantasy rules apply, with points being awarded for offensive yardage and touchdowns and deducted for offensive turnovers. Team defenses will also earn points for holding opponents to low scores, creating turnovers and scoring points.

The game will be open for picks beginning every Tuesday during the season and will be open for selection until 6 p.m. ET on Thursday each week. Tonight, however, picks will be opened until NFL Network coverage begins at 8 p.m. ET. Results of the previous week will be posted on the Tuesday morning following the last game of the week.

Fans can register to play on ArenaFootball.com's AFNation page, powered by National Guard.

The 25th season of Arena Football will kick off at 8:30 p.m. ET on Friday with the "Hall of Fame Game," featuring the Orlando Predators hosting the Pittsburgh Power during "NET10's Arena Football Friday" on NFL Network. NFL Network's pregame show begins at 8 p.m. ET.
