Day 14: Philadelphia Soul Conclude 2012 Training Camp

PHILADELPHIA (March 9, 2012) - The Soul wrapped up camp for 2012 with this morning's final practice. The team finished strong as players exerted their best effort in the final day of preparation before the start of the regular season.

Despite just completing their second week of hard work and physical practices, the Soul look eagerly to their first game of 2012. The players know how much work they still have to do in the remaining week before the season opener.

Next, the Soul prepare for their season opener on the road in New Orleans. The VooDoo await Philadelphia's arrival in the New Orleans Arena for their showdown on Sunday, March 18.

PLAYER SPOTLIGHT: LB DUSTY BEAR (6'2, 250, Western Kentucky): Played for Dallas Vigilantes and was named Second Team All-Arena (2011) . Recorded 34 tackles, 18 assists, and nine sacks in 15 games with the Vigilantes . Played for the Alabama Vipers (2010) . Made seven tackles, seven assists, and 1.5 sacks in three games. Played for the Tampa Bay Storm (2010) . In five games, he recorded eight tackles, four assists, and one sack

QUOTE OF THE DAY: "We put some good work in here over the last two weeks. The team's really come together and started to click in the new system," said Soul head coach Doug Plank. "We have one more week before our first real test. During the week we're going to look hard at what needs to improve and do our best to get ready for a tough opponent down in New Orleans."

THIS DAY IN HISTORY: March 9 has been kind to the Philadelphia Soul throughout the franchise's history. In back-to-back seasons (2007-08), the Soul played on the road and returned home victorious.

In 2007, the Soul faced off against the Nashville Kats on the road. The Soul held a 21-16 lead at the half thanks to quarterback Tony Graziani's two touchdown passes and an Eddie Moten 43-yard interception return for a touchdown. Graziani threw three more scores in the second half as the Soul came out on top of the Kats 63-30.

Sunday March 9, 2008 saw Philadelphia travel to the windy city to take on the Chicago Rush. Thanks to five passing touchdowns and one rushing by Graziani, the Soul defeated the Rush by a final score of 60-49.
