Quad City Steamwheelers News Release
The Quad City Steamwheelers and Portabella's Italian Bistro have announced that they will be hosting a "meet and greet" dinner event where fans can come to meet the team's new owners, coaching staff and some of the players from the 2007 Midwest Division Champion squad.
"This will be the first chance we have to get everyone together this off-season," said General Manager Shawn Brown. "When the season ends, everyone kind of scatters all over the country, so sometimes it's difficult to plan something like this. But we've found the right time for everyone and we're going to make it as fun as we can."
The fan event will take place from 6-8:00pm the same day, also at Portabella's, and the restaurant will present a special pasta buffet so fans can enjoy dinner while getting to know the team. The all-you-can-eat buffet will be $10 for adults and $5 for kids 12 and under.
"This is exactly the kind of event we had in mind when we first started planning our community involvement at the end of last season," continued Brown. "We'll have the new coaches, owners, staff and players together, and it'll give the media a chance to meet these guys and have some time to do individual interviews in a more casual setting. The fans will get to meet everyone face-to-face, and we'll hold a raffle to give away some Steamwheelers merchandise. It should be a lot of fun."
Scheduled to attend the event are new Head Coach Troy Biladeau and Offensive Coordinator Shon King (whose contract is pending af2 league approval), as well as reigning U.S. Army "Ironman of the Year" WR/LB Jack Walker, Jr., QB J.J. Raterink, WR Kris Peters and more.
During the event, the players will sign autographs, the Steamwheelers will hold drawings for team merchandise, and one lucky fan will go home with an authentic game jersey.
