Elmira Jackals News Release
The Elmira Jackals, 2003-2004 United Hockey League Eastern Conference Champions, announced today that they have re-signed Jamie Thompson for the 2004-2005 season. Thompson will play his second season for the Jackals after leading the team in playoff goals and points last season.
For the 2003-2004 Regular Season Thompson scored 20 goals with 29 assists for 49 points in only 51 games played. He chipped in with 9 goals and eleven assists during the playoffs. Thompson was reunited with Head Coach Todd Brost last year; the two were paired for consecutive WPHL championship seasons in El Paso. After scoring a career high 122 points, Jamie was honored with the 1997-98 WPHL MVP and Man of the Year awards. He spent parts of 4 seasons in the AHL, with the Worcester IceCats and the Providence Bruins. He played intercollegiate hockey for the University of Maine; Thompson was a freshman in 1992-93 when the Black Bears won their first ever NCAA National Championship.
"Jamie is a huge piece of our puzzle in our quest for the Colonial Cup," stated Jackals Head Coach Todd Brost. "He played his best hockey in the playoffs. Jamie brings great leadership, character and integrity to the team."
Thompson will be an instructor for the Todd Brost Hockey Schools at First Arena. The two, one week camps start July 19th and August 1st.
