(Windsor, ON) - The Windsor Spitfires are proud to announce a charitable commitment from Families First as part of the club's new MVP Program, through which the Hospice of Windsor Essex County received a donation of $1,000.

Families First Vice President of Family Services Jennifer Wells says she's proud to acknowledge the work of the Hospice.

"When you're part of a community, it's our belief that you need to be a part of that community. Be an active part of that community's success," said Wells. "The Hospice is special to many, many families in Windsor and Essex County. They've been very special to us for several years."

Hospice Executive Director Carol Derbyshire says it's much-appreciated support.

"We have a huge case load of patients and their families," Derbyshire said. "There's such a need. And we don't charge anything for any of our services or programs. So things like this are just wonderful bonuses when we hear about them."

Prior to the third period of this past Sunday's game versus London, Spitfires Director of Corporate Partnerships & Premium Seating, Andrew Rowberry, presented a cheque to the Hospice on behalf of Families First and the Windsor Spitfires Foundation.

Families First was also recognized in a feature video presented on the WFCU Centre's Jumbotron during an intermission break.
