Falcons Fall in Game 4, Forcing Decisive Game 5 Saturday in Springfield

Springfield, Mass. - The Springfield Falcons were defeated by the Providence Bruins by the final score of 6-3 in Game 4 Tuesday night at the Dunkin' Donuts Center, forcing a decisive Game 5 at the MassMutual Center Saturday, May 3 at 7:00 p.m.
Five power-play goals were scored in the game - three for Springfield and two for Providence - while only three total goals with the man advantage were scored by both teams combined through the first three games of the series.
All three of Springfield's goals Tuesday night were scored on the power play, improving the team's rate to 4-for-14 (28.6%) in the series. Ryan Craig, Darryl Boyce and Tim Erixon notched the tallies for the Falcons, while forward Carter Camper and defenseman Patrick McNeill assisted on all three. Camper (one goal, three assists) and McNeill (four assists) lead Springfield with four points through four games of the 2014 Calder Cup Playoffs.
Ryan Spooner and Alexander Khokhlachev scored the power-play goals for Providence, contributing to the team's series-high six goals in the game.
Forward Matt Fraser found the back of the net twice for the Bruins, at the 8:54 mark of the first period and the 4:45 mark of the third period, raising his playoff point total to four (three goals, one assist). Fraser, along with Spooner and defenseman David Warsofsky, lead Providence with four points in the series.
Craig Cunningham, and Nick Johnson scored the Bruins' other two goals, while Warsofsky and fellow defenseman Joe Morrow each chipped in with two assists.
Falcons netminder Mike McKenna made 23 saves on 28 shots in 44:45 of action before being relieved by back-up Anton Forsberg in the third period. McKenna earned the loss, falling to 2-2 in the postseason. Forsberg stopped nine of 10 shots in 14:28, his first professional postseason action in North America.
Malcolm Subban made 31 saves on 34 shots in net for Providence, earning the victory in his first playoff appearance as a professional.
The Falcons and Bruins are now tied, 2-2, in the best-of-five, Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series. The winner of the fifth and final game of the series will advance to the Conference Semifinals, while the other's season will come to an end.
Game 5 is scheduled for Saturday, May 3 at 7:00 p.m. at the MassMutual Center in downtown Springfield.
