Falcons Aim to Clinch Finals Berth

FRESNO, Calif. â After losing Game One to the Idaho Steelheads in their best-of-seven, first round playoffs series, the Fresno Falcons have won three straight hockey games, putting themselves in position for a return trip to the Taylor Cup Finals with a victory on Sunday in Game Five.
The stage was set for the Falcons to move on to the Finals following Friday' s 3-1 victory in Game Four, which gave them a commanding three games to one lead in the series. Game Five is tomorrow at 5 p.m. at Selland Arena, with the first 1,000 fans to the arena receiving a pair of Thundersticks and a "Go Falcons!" cheer card courtesy of the Old Fresno Hofbrau and The Fresno Bee. Tickets are still available at the Selland box office, all Ticketmaster locations and online at www.ticketmaster.com. Arena/Loge seats cost $16 and Balcony seats cost $12.
If the Steelheads manage to come away with a win in Game Five, the teams will head back to Idaho for a Game Six and, if necessary, a Game Seven. Game Six would be played on Tuesday, Apr. 22, and Game Seven would be held on Wednesday, Apr. 23, both at the Bank of America Centre in Boise.
Should Fresno capture a win tomorrow to clinch the first round series, they would open the Taylor Cup Finals on the road against the San Diego Gulls next weekend. The Gulls advanced to their fifth trip to the Finals by defeating the Bakersfield Condors four games to one in the league's other semi-final series.
