
Faison leads BayBears past West Tenn

Mobile, Ala. â Vinnie Faison, who changed his name from Vince on Tuesday, went 4-for-4 at the plate Friday night, leading the BayBears past the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx in game two of their five-game series in front of 3,352 fans at Hank Aaron Stadium.
With the score tied 3-3, Faison doubled home Bobby Scales for his fourth hit of the night, giving the BayBears a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. Humberto Quintero drove in Danny Bravo with an infield groundout for the insurance run, making the final 5-3.
Bryan Gaal worked the final two frames to pick up the win in relief. Gaal (3-5) did not allow a hit in his to innings while issuing one walk and striking out one.
The BayBears jumped ahead 2-0 in the bottom of the fifth. Faison led off with a single, stole second and moved to third on a wild throw from the pitcher Felix Sanchez as eh had Faison hung out after a smash up the middle by Quintero. With runners at the corners, BayBears starting pitcher Duncan McAdoo squared to bunt but the Sanchez pitch went to the backstop, allowing Faison to score. Quintero would later score on a two-out single by Todd Donovan.
West Tenn struck back in the top of the sixth, scoring three runs off of McAdoo. The Diamond Jaxx strung together three straight two-out hits accounting for all three runs.
Mobile tied the game at 3-3 in the bottom of the inning. Again it was Faison. Vinnie beat out an infield single scoring Jon Knott from third. Faison is now 5-for-8 since changing his name.
The BayBears and Diamond Jaxx will play a double-header Saturday with the first game set for 4:05. Chris Rojas (5-6) will face Sergio Mitre (6-7). In game two, Roger Deago (6-6) will start on the mound for Mobile against John Webb (4-8).
Between games the BayBears along with Mitchell Homes, WABB 97 FM, and WPMI NBC 15 will be giving away a $125,000 Mitchell Home. The final two keys in the season-long promotion will be given away during Saturday's first game. The gates at Hank Aaron Stadium will open at 3:00 for the double-header.
