Mobile BayBears News Release

Mobile, Ala. – The Mobile BayBears registered just three hits in their game against the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx Thursday night, but those three hits were enough as they won the game 3-2, in front of 2,674 fans at Hank Aaron Stadium.

Danny Bravo drove in the game-winning runs in the bottom of the sixth as he smacked a double to right-center field driving in Rico Washington and Jon Knott, to put the BayBears ahead to stay 3-2.

Jake Gautreau got the BayBears first hit of the game against Diamond Jaxx starter Jae-Kuk Ryu leading off the fifth inning. It was a big hit, however. He stroked his ninth homerun of the season over the wall in right-center, trimming the West Tenn lead to 2-1.

BayBears starter Chris Oxspring was equally stingy as he picked up the win. Oxspring (8-3) allowed two runs on just one hit in six innings of work. The right-hander did tie a season-high five batters but worked around those by inducing two double plays.

BayBears closer Rusty Tucker earned his league-leading 27th save of the season by working a perfect ninth inning. The save tied Tucker for the BayBears' single season save record set by Todd Erdos in 1997.

The Diamond Jaxx two runs came on the only hit allowed by Oxspring, a two-run, first inning homerun by Brendan Harris.

The BayBears and Diamond Jaxx will play game two of their five-game series Friday night at 7:05. Duncan McAdoo (3-7) will get the start on the mound for Mobile against West Tenn's Jon Leicester (4-4).

As always on Friday nights at Hank Aaron Stadium, there will be a fireworks spectacular following the game.
