Carolina Courage News Release

Morrisville, NC (May 23, 2002) The Carolina Courage's prized international signing, German Player of the Year Birgit Prinz scored in the 90th minute of the UEFA Women's Cup Championship to help FFC Frankfurt claim the title of top soccer club in Europe.

The 2-0 victory over Swedish club Umea caps a storybook season for Prinz, who has led her club team FFC Frankfurt to the celebrated "treble" – a German league title, German cup title, and European club championship.

Prinz, who will join the Carolina Courage of the WUSA on Saturday, will arrive as a European champion at both the club and national level. In last year's European Championship final Germany topped Sweden 1-0. Today, German club Frankfurt was crowned European club champion.

The Courage plays its next game on Saturday, May 25th against the first place Philadelphia Charge. For ticket information, log onto the Carolina Courage website at www.carolinacourage.com or call the Courage ticket office at (919) 573-7626.
