Bloomington Extreme News Release

Despite Mitch Tanney throwing for five touchdowns, the Bloomington Extreme (0-1) fell to the four-time IFL champions Sioux Falls Storm (1-0), 50-47, at U.S. Cellular Coliseum Saturday.

Sioux Falls got on the board first when quarterback Terrance Bryant hooked up with Tavon McGee for a 14-yard touchdown reception with 13:04 to go in the first, however, failed the extra point attempt. The Extreme quickly responded when quarterback Tanney found Peter Warrick for a one-play, 19-yard TD strike, to go up 7-6 with 12:47 in the first. The lead was short-lived after the Storm returned a missed field goal for a touchdown.

Bloomington regained the lead, 21-19, with 5:01 remaining in the first half after Keith Brooks rumbled into the end zone for a short touchdown run. The Storm had a threatening drive, however, defensive back Laroche Jackson intercepted a Bryant pass, leading to another Extreme TD, pushing the lead to 28-19 with 2:39 remaining in the half. The Extreme entered halftime with a 28-25 lead.

The Storm opened the second half with a 7:28 drive, which resulted in a Sean Treasure TD run to put the Sioux back in front, 32-28. With 12:28 left in the ball game, Tanney connected with Brooks for a 19-yard TD reception and now led, 38-35. The Storm regained the lead, 42-38, when Treasure found the promise land for the third time in the game at the 7:15 mark.

With under 1:00 remaining, Tanney threw his fifth touchdown pass to Robert Redd, which put the Extreme up, 47-42. With 40 seconds left, the Storm put together a game winning drive, resulting in McGee's second TD reception.

The Extreme will continue their spring campaign when they face the Sioux City Bandits March 21 at 7 p.m. in Sioux City, Iowa at the Tyson Events Center.
