Bloomington Extreme News Release
BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Bloomington Extreme indoor football coach Ted Schmitz announced the signing of three players Tuesday, including veteran defensive lineman Rachman Crable.
The 6-foot-3, 295-pound Crable played for Fort Wayne (Ind.) last year and joins former Freedom players Rocky Harvey, Randall Guzman, Jamarkus Gorman and Evan Triggs on the Extreme roster this year.
The Extreme also signed quarterback Steve LaFalce and lineman Luke Wickman, who were teammates at Western Illinois University last season.
Crable ranked fifth in the United Indoor Football League last season with an average of 6.5 sacks per game. He had 42 solo tackles and 29 assists for the Freedom in 15 games.
This is Crable's fourth season of professional football. He also spent time with the New York Giants and the Indiana Firebirds before joining the Freedom.
LaFalce ended his career at Western Illinois as the second-leading passer in school history with 6,512 yards and a career completion percentage of .616, which ranked second in the Gateway Conference.
The 6-foot-1, 210-pound LaFalce completed 176 of 279 passes for 2,121 yards his senior year. He also threw 11 touchdown passes and averaged 192.8 yards per game.
LaFalce rushed for more career touchdowns (12) than any quarterback in Western Illinois history. He finished his career ranked fourth in yards per attempt (7.9), eighth in yards per game (141.6) and third in touchdown passes (42).
The 6-foot-3, 315-pound Wickman was the starting center in nine games as a senior after moving from left offensive tackle. Last season he was a member of the offensive line that blocked for a 1,400-yard rusher.
The signing of the three players brings the Extreme roster to the league maximum of 35. Schmitz and his staff has to whittle the team's roster to the season-mandatory 30 by midnight Thursday.
