Extreme Sign Eight Players, Roster Set For Training Camp

BLOOMINGTON (Ill.) - The Bloomington Extreme announced the signing of eight new players. This brings the roster to 44 for training camp which begins Sunday. Only 30 players will make the opening day roster.

Mike Crumpler, 5' 11" 200 lbs. - Defensive Back returning to the Extreme, Crumpler only played two games of the 2009 season. Crumpler attended college at Bowling Green University, where he was a four-year letterman from 2002 to 2005. His junior and senior years Crumpler started on the defense, where he collected 24 solo tackles, 30 assists, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles during that two year span.

Terrill Mayberry, 5 11" 175 lbs. - Defensive Back makes a return to the Extreme. In 2009 Mayberry played in eight games with the Extreme, earning 25 solo tackles with 11 assists. Mayberry was a four-year letterman at Bowling Green University, starting both junior and senior years. As a starter, he tallied 75 solo tackles, 60 assists, four interceptions, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

Jeff Candler, 6' 2" 160 lbs. - Defensive Lineman returns to the Extreme for another strong season. Candler played in 12 games during the 2009 season, totaling 18 solo tackles, 7.5 tackles for losses, 22 assists, two sacks, and one interception. Before the Extreme, Candler played at Iowa Wesleyan College, and tallied 65 tackles, 33 of which were solo, eight tackles for losses, 2.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery, as well as was named an All Conference Player during the 2006 season.

Marcus Minor, 6' 200 lbs. - Defensive Back played the 2007 and 2008 seasons for Western Kentucky University, where he recorded 116 total tackles, four forced fumbles, two sacks, and two defended passes during his time as a starter. Minor is quick to break on the ball, with a 4.6 40-yard dash. Minor transferred to WKU after playing football for two years at Juliet College in Joliet, Ill. After the 2007 season, he was named the Virgil Livers Most Improved Defensive Back.

David Darby, 6'1" 200 lbs. - Defensive back from Hofstra was named to 2007 ALL-CAA Football second team defense. A native of Sewell, N.J., earned his first all-conference award in 2007. He was second on the Pride with three interceptions, and was fourth on the team and tied for first in the secondary with 53 tackles. Darby, a two-time All-Atlantic 10 Academic Team selection, ranked third in the CAA and 70th in the FCS in interception average (.27 ipg).

Chris Lee, 6' 200 lbs. - Defensive back from Quincy played in 11 games in 2006 recording 41 tackles including two tackles for loss had one interception returned for five yards. He had eight pass break ups and one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

Brandon Henderson, 5' 10" 180 lbs. Defensive Back from the University of Northern Iowa. Henderson will make his first appearance on the field as an Extreme.

Aaron Pruitt 6' 210 lbs. - Running back from Youngstown State. Pruitt will make his first appearance on the field as an Extreme.

"We've got some veterans in this group along with some rookies so we know what the vets can do and the rookies, you never know until you get on the field," head coach Kenton Carr said. "Talent-wise everyone of them can play. It's going to be an exciting camp. It's going to be tough and very competitive and I'm excited and I know the guys are they guys are. Whoever comes in, in shape will be seeing the field."

The Bloomington Extreme will play seven home games at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum in 2010. The regular season kicks off March 6 at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum as the Extreme will host the expansion Richmond (VA.) Revolution.
