
Extreme Season Ends After Falling to the Wild, 46-37

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - Despite Dusty Burk throwing for 150 passing yards and two touchdowns, the Bloomington Extreme (10-5) fell to the Wichita Wild (9-6), 46-37, at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum Saturday night which brought their season to an end.
The Extreme registered 152 yards of total offense on the night, with 150 coming through the air and only two yards on the ground.
The Wichita Wild compiled a total of 192 yards, while forcing three turnovers. Quarterback Dixie Wooten threw for 114 passing yards and a touchdown to complement his two rushing touchdowns.
The Extreme got things going on the opening kickoff, when Laroche Jackson returned the ball 44 yards to set up a Ray Jackson 1-yard touchdown run. The Wild countered with an eight-play 36-yard drive that resulted in a touchdown by Fudge to tie the game, 7-7.
Bloomington jumped to 17-7 advantage midway through the first quarter before the Wild regained the lead, 21-17, after Fudge tallied two more touchdowns. The Extreme answered when Burk found Carl Sims on a 28-yard touchdown strike to cut their deficit to 26-24 entering halftime.
Peter Christofilakos knocked in a 48-yard field goal, giving the Extreme a 27-26 lead early in the third quarter. The lead was short lived, as the Wild's Dixie Wooten connected with Carlos Cavanaugh for a 25-yard touchdown pass, which gave the Wild a 33-27 lead they would not relinquish. The Extreme closed the gap to 39-37 after a Christofilakos 33-yard field goal. Fudge tallied his fourth rushing touchdown to give the Wild a 46-37 win over the Extreme.
The playoff loss marks the end to the 2009 IFL season for the Extreme in which the Bloomington compiled a franchise-best 10-4 regular season record.
