Round Rock Express News Release

ROUND ROCK, Texas – David Matranga of the Houston Astros and Brian Gordon of the Anaheim Angels will be part of a group from the Round Rock Express that will be in Fort Hood Saturday, January 31, to visit our troops. Both will be available for autographs.

Spike, the Express mascot, will also be at the Cedar Creek PX starting at 11 a.m.

Matranga made national news last year when he hit a home run – in his first Major League at-bat. He will report to Spring Training with the Astros with a chance to provide some quality depth to the infield.

Gordon, a Round Rock resident, will join Vladimir Guerrero in the Angels' outfield this year.

The event will be the latest event involving the Express and Fort Hood. Families of soldiers involved in Iraq were recognized before a game last year and the Express has given thousands of tickets to the base since the team began play in 2000.
