
Express Sign Two More PSAC Players

Reading Express GM/Head Coach Bernie Nowotarski announced today that he has signed two more PSAC players. Michael Baldwin from Kutztown University and Corey Gipe from Bloomsburg University.
Baldwin was a 3 year co-captain and a 4 year starter at KU as a defensive back. He played his High School football at Dobbins Tech in Philadelphia. Michael is very athletic defensive back at 6'1" 200lb. He was the PSAC Defensive Player of the Year in 2005 and was an All-PSAC East Team member in both 2004 and 2005. Michael was also named to the Associated Press Little All-America Team and ESPN's Academic All-American 2nd Team. Other awards that Michael received were 1st team Daktronics All-Northeast Region Team in 2005 and was a 3 time member of the CoSIDA Academic Team. He was KU's Male Senior Athlete and Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the first in KU's history to win both awards. He graduated from KU with a Criminal Justice Degree and finished with a GPA of 3.78. Michael is looking to become a lawyer. "What do you say about a young man like Michael" said Nowotarski. "He's a great athlete, a very smart young man and his family is most important to him, a triple combination that is tough to beat" added Nowotarski.
Gipe was a 2 year starter and a 3 year roll player at Bloomsburg as a defensive lineman. He played his High School football at Schuylkill Haven where he was 1st team All-Region in 2002 and 2003 and was also named as a 1st Team All-State Offensive Lineman in 2003. At Bloomsburg, Corey was the Huskies 2007 Co-Captain and was named as a 1st Team All-PSAC selection at defensive tackle. Corey also spends his spare time as Eagle Scout. Corey is 6'1" 290lbs and adds depth to both sides of our line. "We're very excited to have Corey. He's another quality PSAC player and again a very smart young man with strong family values, he's the type of player we look for here, great athletics combined with higher education and strong family values " said Nowotarski.
