Snohomish County Explosion News Release
MONROE, Wash. - May 2nd, 2008 - The Snohomish County Explosion Basketball Team got back to back wins in league play with a 109-103 win down in Tacoma. On Friday night, the team won behind Jamaal Miller, Chris Keller and Donald Watts' great shooting and defense. The game was a battle with the Explosion being down by as many as 10 points in the third quarter. But veteran point guard Greg Hendricks was key for a comeback win now his second game in a row playing the point for the Snohomish County Explosion in closing minutes. The Explosion also picked up All Star power forward Alex Adediran previous on the Tacoma squad for the remaining of the season. Alex had limited minutes in his first game for the Explosion. Dwight Edwards former assistant coach for the Explosion is now coaching on the bench for Tacoma. This is an exchange the Explosion are very happy with and Tacoma has a quality coach on the bench to help reshape the Jazz.
Saturday night should be a barn burner with the instant rival Bellingham Slam hosting the Explosion for one last time during the regular season. Ryan Diggs and Jacob Stevenson have proved to be a thorn in the side of the Explosion all year, and this weekend should be no different. The trio of Watts, Miller, and Weakley have had great success against the Slam so far, and the additions of Justin White, Troy Gywnn, and Greg Hendricks could make this the game of the year so far in the IBL.
There is no love lost between these two teams who have battled to the last second in all three contests so far. The Explosion will be looking to even the season series with a win on Saturday.
The Explosion have a 7-5 record and play the Shaanxi Kylins (China) Saturday, May 10 at 7:15pm in the Monroe Sports Arena at Monroe High School. Seats are still available by calling 425-339-BALL (2255) or at the Monroe Sports Arena Box Office starting at 5:00pm PST.
