Bellingham Slam News Release
BELLINGHAM, Wash. - Paul Hafford led all scorers with 26 points as the Bellingham Slam cruised to a 149-112 International Basketball League victory Saturday night at Whatcom Pavilion.
After an even first quarter, the Slam took advantage of the Explosion's fatigue as Snohomish County was playing the second of back-to-back road games. The Slam outscored the Explosion 45-22 in the second quarter on 16 points from Hafford to build a 24-point halftime lead, at 78-54.
The Explosion weren't able to mount any sort of comeback in the second half, trailing by no fewer than 19 in the third quarter and 34 in the fourth.
Hafford led seven Slam players in double figures. Tyler Amaya scored 21 points in his home debut and Jacob Stevenson chipped in 20.
Snohomish County was led by Donald Watts' 24 points and nine rebounds. Chris Keller and Alex Adediran shared second-best scoring honors with 16 points.
The Slam head to Portland on Sunday for a road contest against the Chinooks at 5:00 p.m. The Slam return home to face the Shaanxi Kylins on May 9. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m. at Whatcom Pavilion.
