Kellan Tochkin scored his 22nd and 23rd goals of the season and the Everett Silvertips snuck past the Tri-City Americans in Kennewick Friday night.

Opening the game's scoring 8:58 into the first period, Tochkin was left unprotected only feet from the goal, allowing a pass from Byron Froese to be quickly put past American's goaltender Drew Owsley on his blocker side.

At 17:34, the Silvertips jumped ahead by two goals when Alex Theriau capitalized on a tripping call against the American's Brendan Shinnimin and from the blueline rifled a Shane Harper pass into the net for his 4th goal of the season.

Both team's got in some penalty kill practice at the start of the second but the score remained the same until a scramble in front of the net at 16:27 of the second period saw Everett's lead cut in half. Brooks Masick found the puck amongst the bodies crowding the crease and jammed the puck past Thomas Heemskerk, for his 17th of the season.

With the Tri-City crowd finally finding voice, Everett held onto its 2 - 1 lead going into the third period.

0:55 into the third, Tri-City continued its come back, Neal Prokop raced in to beat Thomas Heemskerk on the short side, the second straight Americans goal tying the game.

Three minutes later, the Silvertips burst into the zone with Tyler Maxwell carrying the puck, a quick pass across the front of the net to find Kellan Tochkin open,

Minutes later, at 3:58, Maxwell burst into the zone, a quick pass across the front of the net finding Kellan Tochkin who redirected it past the already outstretched Owsley's pads and into the open net for his second of the night and 23rd of the season.

Despite a late interference call against Chris de la Lande, Everett held off the American's attack for their 38th win of the season. Everett now have 80 points on the season, sitting just 5 points behind Tri-City for first place in the Western Conference.

This brings the 'Tips record to 38-19-3-1 with 80 points in 61 games played. Tomorrow, Everett takes on the Seattle Thunderbirds at the Showare Center in Kent.
