
Everblades Blades Re-Sign Carlson

ESTERO, FL - Florida Everblades President and General Manager Craig Brush along with Head Coach Greg Poss announced today that forward Ross Carlson has signed a contract for the 2010-11 season, making him the 10th player signed by the Everblades for the upcoming season.
Carlson returns for his third season with the Everblades and is entering his fifth season professionally. In 2009-10 the 28-year-old tallied 53 points (28g, 25a) and 28 penalty minutes in 62 regular season games with the Everblades and chipped in seven points (2g, 5a) in six Kelly Cup Playoff games.
"We're very excited to have Ross back this year," Poss said. "He's one of the better players from last year's team and is a player the fans can identify with. He was a solid performer in the playoffs last season and he'll be one of the more experienced players we'll have. Ross is a strong all-around player and we'll be leaning on him for his leadership as well."
In his first season with the Everblades in 2008-09, the Duluth, Minnesota native posted 36 points in 52 regular season games and notched nine points in 11 Kelly Cup Playoff games. Carlson also saw action that year in six combined games in the American Hockey League with the Peoria Rivermen and Rochester Americans.
In his first full professional season in 2007-08 Carlson skated in 49 games with the Texas Wildcatters of the ECHL recording 38 points and played in a total of 19 games at the AHL level with the Rockford Ice Hogs and Houston Aeros, tallying a total of five points.
Carlson made his professional debut in 2006-07 by playing in four games with the Providence Bruins of the AHL, picking up one assist. Overall in his professional career, Carlson has notched 136 points (64g, 72a) in 192 games.
Prior to turning pro the 5-foot-11, 185 pound centerman completed a four-year collegiate career at the University of Wisconsin. As a Badger he notched 90 points (33g, 57a) in 131 career games and helped lead Wisconsin to a NCAA Championship during his Junior campaign in 2005-06 when the Badgers defeated Boston College.
Before joining the college ranks Carlson competed at the junior level in the United States Hockey League for three seasons with Des Moines and Waterloo. In 155 career USHL games he totaled 103 points.
