Evansville to Host Rock River Raptors

EVANSVILLE, IN: The Evansville BlueCats (3-6) return home this Saturday night to take on the Rock River Raptors (6-4) at Roberts Stadium. Currently the Raptors sit in first place in the UIF Eastern Conference and are coming off a closely contested 56-55 victory on the road against the Ohio Valley Greyhounds. The BlueCats also enter this game coming off a victory after earning a 58-46 road win last Saturday against the Bloomington Extreme. Bloomington was in first place prior to last weeks game, making this two weeks in a row that the BlueCats will be facing the first place team in the Eastern Conference. Gates open at 6pm this Saturday night at Roberts Stadium with kickoff scheduled for 7:05pm.
If the BlueCats expect to come away from Saturday's game with another victory, the defense will have to find a way to contain quarterback Ben Sankey and the highly rated Raptors offense. As a team, the Raptors lead the league in passing offense and passing efficiency. Last week, the BlueCats defense came up with four interceptions against Bloomington quarterback Dusty Burk and picked off Burk two more times on 2-point conversion attempts. The BlueCats lead the league in rushing defense, allowing less than 50 yards per game on the ground. Last week they held the Extreme to just 13 yards rushing.
Everyone's favorite halftime show will be making an encore appearance at this Saturday's game as the Boom Squad returns as the feature halftime entertainment. Halftime will also feature an appearance by Donald Duck who will be at the game to celebrate his 73rd birthday.
The Gus Doerner Charity football toss returns this week. Before the game and during the first half, fans can purchase footballs to be "tossed" at halftime. Every football that lands in the BlueCats barrel at halftime will win a prize! All proceeds from the charity football toss will go to the nightly charity. Saturday's charity is the United Caring Shelter.
The Evansville BlueCats merchandise booth will be having a special sale on select merchandise for this game only. Pennants will on sale for $1 each, megaphones will be on sale for $2 each, and car magnets will be on sale for just $3 each.
Kickoff on Saturday will be at 7:05pm. The gates at Roberts Stadium will open at 6pm. The BlueCats invite fans to show up early and tailgate with your fellow fans. The tailgate weather forecast for Saturday afternoon is fabulous with mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the low 80's with a light breeze.
