Dayton Dragons News Release

Dayton, OH - The Cincinnati Reds have announced that Dayton Dragons C Tony Esquer has been placed on the disabled list retroactive to June 12th with a right thumb infection. Returning to the Dragons to fill the open roster spot is RHP Terrell Young, just one day after being reassigned to the Billings Mustangs. Also, LHP Eddie Guardado has ended his rehab assignment with the Dragons.

This will be Esquer's second stint on the disabled list in 2007. Esquer was first placed on the DL with a sprained ankle on May 26th after being barreled over at home plate by Richard Mercado of the South Bend Silver Hawks. Esquer was activated on June 9th, and went 2-for-4 with two RBIs in his first game back. Esquer added another RBI the next day, but now heads to the DL with a .206 batting average and 9 RBIs.

Young rejoins the Dragons for his second stint in 2007 and third overall. Young has allowed six earned runs in 0.1 innings over two appearances. He's 0-1 with a 162.00 ERA and four walks for the Dragons in 2007. Young was a 10th round selection of the Reds in the 2004 First Year Player Draft out of Grenada High School in Mississippi.

With the moves, the Dragons roster remains at 25 active players.
