
Eskimos sign Derick Armstrong to one-year contract

Appearing in six games with the Lions this season, the Texas native recorded 22 receptions for 316 yards before his release on August 10th. The seven-year CFL veteran originally signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2001 where he spent two seasons before heading to the NFL with the Houston Texans. Armstrong returned to the CFL three years later with the Winnipeg Blue Bomber where he stayed until 2009. Derick has complied a career total of 311 receptions for 4,310 yards and 20 touchdowns including one 50-yard reception for a touchdown in the 2007 Grey Cup with the Blue Bombers. He has been a CFL All-Star twice ('02, '07) and a West Division ('02) and East Division ('07) All-Star once.
