Errors Prove Costly in Jaxx Loss to Braves

JACKSON, TN. (April 17, 2010) - The Diamond Jaxx (4-6) committed five errors on Sunday afternoon and fell to the Mississippi Braves (5-5) at Pringles Park, 11-2. Of the 11 runs scored by the M-Braves, only three were earned. The Jaxx will continue their 10-game homestand on Monday night as they welcome the Huntsville Stars.

Willie Cabrera led things offensively for the Braves finishing 3-for-4 at the plate with four RBI. Luis Bolivar tabbed a two-hit game for the Braves and scored a season high five runs.

Steven Hensley (0-1) takes the tough luck loss for the Jaxx on Sunday after allowing no earned runs in 4.2 innings. Hensley gave up two hits while striking out two and walking four. Richard Sullivan (1-0) gets the win for Mississippi by dealing 5.1 innings and allowing just two runs on six base hits.

The Braves opened up the scoring in the top of the third inning with a run on a RBI double play groundout off the bat of Alex Romero. West tallied their first run in the fourth inning on an RBI double off the bat of Carlos Peguero. The game was tied at 1-1 after four innings.

The M-Braves would go on to score two runs in the fifth inning and three runs in the sixth. With the Braves leading 6-1, the Diamond Jaxx cut the lead to 6-2 on a RBI double by Johan Limonta in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Mississippi added two more runs in the eighth inning on an RBI single by Willie Cabrera, a sacrifice fly to right by Donell Linares and an error by Jaxx third baseman Alex Liddi. The two runs scored in the ninth inning for the Braves came on an RBI single by Alex Romero.

Chris Sorce and Luis Munoz each made their Diamond Jaxx pitching debut's in the loss. The two runs in the ninth were tabbed to Sorce and Munoz got the final out of the top of the ninth inning.

The Jaxx will welcome the Huntsville Stars to Pringles Park on Monday night as the 10-game homestand continues. RHP Dan Cortes (0-0, 8.10) will take the mound for the Jaxx and be opposed by Huntsville RHP Amaury Rivas (1-0, 0.90). Kids and seniors eat free on Monday night with paid admission.
