Lancaster JetHawks News Release

(LANCASTER, CA) - Inland Empire stumped the JetHawks in a close game again. Costly JetHawks errors allowed the 66ers a run in the eighth to tie the game and two runs in the tenth inning as Inland Empire won the game 5-3 in ten innings. Inland Empire has now won four of the five meetings between the teams, with all four JetHawks losses by two runs or less and with two of them coming in extra innings.

After allowing the 66ers a two-run lead in the first inning, Mike Rozier settled down and turned in one of the JetHawks best starts of the season. Rozier went a season-high six and a third innings, not allowing any runs after the first and scattering just six hits. Rozier left with a chance to win thanks to RBI doubles in the first by Aaron Bates, in the fifth by Iggy Suarez, and in the sixth by Mark Wagner.

However, with one out in the eighth inning and runners at first at second, a JetHawks error allowed Inland Empire to tie the game and send it into extra innings. The 66ers managed two runs in the tenth off reliever Tim Cox to get the victory.

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Yhency Brazoban, recovering from elbow surgery, started the game for the 66ers. The right-hander pitched one and two-thirds innings, allowing the JetHawks one run and two hits.

The JetHawks continue a seven-game homestand Saturday night against the Inland Empire 66ers. Michael Bowden (0-0, 1.15) pitches for the JetHawks, while the 66ers will send up Miguel Pinango (0-0, 0.00). The game starts at 5:00 and will be broadcast on radio on Magic 1340 AM, as well as on the internet at www.JetHawks.com with the pre-game show starting at 4:45.
