Montgomery Biscuits News Release

HOOVER, Ala. - Two throwing errors ruined an otherwise solid night for Shane Dyer as the Birmingham Barons (61-62) capitalized to beat the Biscuits (60-63) 2-1 Thursday at Regions Park.

The first of Dyer's errors came in the first on a pickoff throw to second with nobody there to catch it. It allowed Brandon Short to move up to third and score an unearned run on a sacrifice fly from Christian Marrero to make it 1-0. The second gaffe from Dyer came when he misfired after getting a baserunner caught between third and home on a grounder back to the mound. His throw went into the bullpen allowing the Barons to go up 2-0.

The Biscuits went 0-7 with runners in scoring position, with Hak-Ju Lee striking out to end the game with the tying run at third and the go-ahead run at second. All told, the Biscuits stranded nine on the night.

Dyer (6-9) allowed only four hits over his six innings in the loss. Birmingham starter Charlie Leesman (9-6) gave up the lone Biscuits run on the night in the seventh on a Lee sac fly, but the Biscuits managed just three hits during his seven innings. Nathan Jones (9) eeked out the save. Cole Figueroa and John Shelby both had two hits to pace the offense.

Alex Colome and Nevin Griffith will square off Friday at 7:05.
