Bradenton Marauders News Release

Fort Myers, Fla.--- The Marauders (26-15, 61-45) and the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels (17-25, 51-56) met for the penultimate matchup of a six-game series at Hammond Stadium on a rain-filled Saturday night. The home team grabbed early runs and never looked back as they got across the finish line with a 3-1 triumph.

Marauders starter Hunter Barco tossed two innings in his second rehab appearance of the year and allowed two runs, one earned while striking out three of the ten batters he faced in the outing.

The Mussels shot themselves ahead in the bottom of the first when Danny De Andrade singled to bring Jay Harry around to score and put the home side ahead 1-0.

Fort Myers grabbed an unearned run in the second inning after Maddux Houghton reached on a dropped pop fly and was driven in by an Alec Sayre line drive single to right to double the lead at 2-0.

Another unearned run score in the third on a sac fly after Luke Keaschall went from first to third on a throwing error to make it 3-0 Mighty Mussels a third of the way through the game.

Bradenton tallied their lone run in the top of the fourth inning when the red-hot Omar Alfonzo smashed a line drive to left to bring Sergio Campana around to score to pull the Young Bucs within a pair at 3-1. Alfonzo is hitting .389 across the last five games and has collected eight RBI while driving two balls out of the yard in the series.

The combined bullpen efforts of Owen Sharts, Yoldin De La Paz, and recent draftee Jaden Woods compiled six innings of one-hit ball with no earned runs allowed.

Bradenton was struck out 15 times in the game and could not manage to scrape together a late rally as they fell in the end by a final score of 3-1.

The series finale is set for Sunday afternoon, with Max Kranick expected to get the starting nod for Bradenton.
