Ernest Jones of the Florida Flight Named CBL Player of the Week

(Orlando, FL) - Ernest Jones, starting point guard for the Florida Flight, has been named CBL player of the week of June 13 - June 19, 2011.

Jones helped his team win two crucial victories against the Gainesville Galaxy and the Heartland Prowl during the final regular season weekend in the CBL. He scored 25 points, dished out 8 assists, and snagged 4 steals on 6/18/11 to knock the Gainesville Galaxy out of playoff contention. The two wins solidified the team's place in the Southern Division of the CBL, giving the Flight their first playoff berth in the team's first year in the CBL.

Jones is a 6'0" guard that attended Florida State University. He is an 8-year veteran of the United States minor league basketball system, playing in the USBL (Brevard Blue Ducks), the ABA (Orlando Aces), the PBL (Buffalo Stampede), the WBA (Florida Flight) and now the CBL (Florida Flight). Jones is averaging 20.3 points, 6.3 assists, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.7 steals this season.

"I'm honored to be selected as the CBL Player of the Week," said Jones. "I want to thank the CBL for taking notice in my abilities on the court."

Jones hopes to obtain an opportunity to take his talents overseas after the completion of the 2011 CBL season.
