Erie Rides Big Plays To Series Sweep

(RICHMOND)- For the second straight week the Richmond Raiders found themselves mounting 2nd and 3rd quarter comebacks only to be met by big plays by their opponent's skill players. Erie DB Erick Wicks returned an 2nd quarter interception 47 yards for a touchdown and Kevin Concepcion turned a short pass into a stunning 30 yard touchdown with 2:30 to go in the third quarter to lead the Erie Explosion to a 65-50 road win at the Richmond Coliseum.

Quarterback Adam DiMichelle continued his strong play against the Raiders; passing for 217 yards and 7 TDs including 5 to the SIFL's leading receiver Concepcion. He was sacked five times by the Raiders defensive front including 3 by league leader Michael Woodhouse.

Raiders QB Aaron Alexander regained his starting position and had a solid outing. He completed 60% of his passes for 267 yards and 5 TDs; with only the Wicks interception in the minus column. He was also sacked 5 times by the Erie defense. Redd Thompson caught 10 passes for 113 yards and 2 TDs. Herb Jones also had a huge night with 9 catches for 114 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Raiders (4-4) stay in first place in the SIFL Mid-Atlantic Division with an one game lead over the Fayetteville Force.
