
Erie Explosion Return Veteran Coaching Staff

(Erie, PA)- Erie Explosion Head Coach Shawn Liotta is proud to announce the return of three veteran coaches to the Explosion coaching staff. Each of these coaches have played a major role in the success of the Erie franchise over the past several seasons. "It is an absolute pleasure to have these guys on our staff again for 2012, their passion, work-ethic, and knowledge of the indoor game is a vital asset to our franchise. I look forward to working with them to make a run at the 2012 UIFL Championship," commented Explosion Head Coach Shawn Liotta.
Jeremy Liotta- Assistant Coach
Jeremy Liotta returns for his second season as Director of Player Personnel and Assistant Coach. Jeremy has been busy this off-season recruiting a talented roster that will allow the Explosion to compete for the 2012 UIFL Championship. He has been instrumental in identifying and recruiting talent to compete under the current UIFL Salary Cap Structure. The 2012 season will be Jeremy Liotta's sixth season as an assistant coach at the professional indoor level. He has served in a variety of roles over the past five seasons including special teams coordinator, and has coached fullbacks/ linebackers, and served as an offensive quality control coach in Pittsburgh, Erie, and Wheeling. He has the additional experience of serving as a coach at the high school level over the past six seasons. During the 2011 off-season, Jeremy coached a developmental indoor team the Harmar Hurricanes to the 2011 PISA Championship. Jeremy served as the combine director for the highly successful 2011 Powerhouse Placement Combine, and has assisted at several professional tryout camps during the offseason. Jeremy is a graduate of the Allegheny County Police Academy and is currently serving as a municipal police officer.
Kirk Rearick- Assistant Coach
Kirk Rearick returns for his sixth season at the professional indoor level. In 2011 Rearick served as the Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator for the Explosion as they finished with a 9-3 record and the Northeastern Division Championship. Rearick has worked with Coach Liotta for the past five seasons spending time in Pittsburgh, Erie, and Wheeling. He has served as an assistant head coach, defensive coordinator, offensive and defensive line coach, and special teams coordinator at the professional indoor level. Coach Rearick has the additional experience of serving as a high school coach in Western Pennsylvania over the past eight seasons. Rearick played collegiately at Thiel College where he received his undergraduate degree, and possesses a masters degree from Duquesne University.
Ed Marin - Assistant Coach
Ed Marin returns for his fourth season in Erie as an assistant coach. Over the past three years he has served as a special teams coordinator and as a defensive backs coach for the Erie Franchise. During the 2009 season, Marin's Kickoff Return Unit was one of the top unit's in the AIFA. Marin gained additional front office experience by serving as the Erie Storm General Manager for the 2010 season. In his position as the General Manager, Marin was responsible for various administrative functions including organizing travel, team meal plan, and player housing for the 2010 season. Marin is a native and graduate of Meadville High School.
The Erie Explosion are proud members of the Ultimate Indoor Football League, and will begin their run to the UIFL Championship when the open camp in February 2012. The Explosion finished the 2011 season with a 9-3 record and the Northeastern Division Championship, led the league in scoring at 70.2 points per game, and featured the leagues Overall MVP and Offensive MVP. Following the completion of the 2011 season, five members of the Explosion were offered Arena Football League Contracts.
