Erie Explosion News Release

Erie,PA) The Erie Explosion wrapped up their 2015 Training Camp with a competitive scrimmage today at the Family First Sports Park. The scrimmage featured a battle between the Erie offense and defensive units as players battled to earn a spot on the teams 27 man roster.

The scrimmage showcased the highly competitive quarterback battle between rookies Mason Espinosa and Jeff Sinclair with both quarterbacks leading the Erie offense to multiple scoring drives. Rookie defensive back Jerome Junior had an interception during the redzone period that sparked several key Explosion defensive stops. The scrimmage was overseen by PIFL officials and evaluator Jim DeBell.

"We want to thank the PIFL, Allen Baynes, and Jim DeBell for visiting our training camp today and working our scrimmage. It was extremely valuable for our players and staff to get feedback on rule interpretations directly from the officials. We had a great scrimmage today, and it put an exclamation point on a highly competitive camp. We face many tough decisions as we set our roster for week one,"commented Erie Head Coach Shawn Liotta.

The Explosion will now turn their attention to the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks in their inaugural game in the PIFL at the Erie Insurance Arena on Sunday March 29th at 2:00pm .
