Erie Explosion Begin Preparation for Showdown with Cincinnati

(Erie, PA)- Moments after avenging an early season loss to the Johnstown Generals by a score of 60-27, the Explosion had already set their sights on the undefeated Cincinnati Commandos. The Erie players and coaches will now prepare to host Cincinnati in a game that will feature two of the highest scoring offenses in Indoor Football and two of the stingiest defensive units in the league. The Commandos will arrive in Erie riding an 18 game winning streak and two consecutive league championships in their former league the Continental Indoor Football League. As a first year member of the UIFL the Commandos have won 4 straight games and enter the game averaging 73.2 points per game while only surrendering 27.8 points per game. The Explosion are currently right behind the Commandos in both categories as Erie has averaged 64.6 points per game and are surrendering only 28.8 per game.

Erie enters the contest riding a three game home winning streak, and are fresh off a 60-27 dismantling of the Johnstown Generals. Quarterback A.J. McKenna continued his impressive play with 387 total yards of offense and accounted for 8 total touchdowns. The Explosion defense limited Johnstown to only 35 yards of total offense and 6 first downs. Constant pressure from the Explosion defensive front led to 3 interceptions by defensive back A.J. Saunders. The Explosion rolled up 24 first downs for the game and cruised to a 40-13 halftime advantage.
