UIFL Announces Week Seven Honors

FT. MYERS, FL -The UIFL has announced its weekly honor roll for the week ending March 15, 2012.

Florida kicker Ross Gornall continues to rack up special teams honors, winning his fourth consecutive Trophy Awards Special Teams Player of the Week award. He was a perfect 8-for-8 on extra points with a field goal and an onside kick.

Fresh off his record-setting performance against Rome, Eastern Kentucky receiver Aric Evans earned his second Conquest Cards Offensive Player of the Week honor this season. Evans hauled in six touchdowns receptions as the Drillers won its second game of the season.

Erie quarterback A.J. McKenna is the north offensive recipient for the second time this year. He accounted for 387 yards and eight touchdowns as the Explosion plastered Johnstown Sunday. McKenna was 29-of-40 for 309 yards and six touchdowns.

Another A.J. wins an honor as Erie linebacker A.J. Saunders claimed the All-Star PR Cincinnati Defensive Player of the Week after recording three tackles with three interceptions, including taking one back for a touchdown. The south's defensive honor goes to Lakeland's Maurice Harvey, who had nine tackles with three pass break-ups.
