Elmira Enforcers News Release
The Enforcers entered in to a Sunday afternoon match up with the Danville Dashers looking to secure nine points on the weekend. The Enforcers had dominated the weekend series thus far as they won by a total combined score of 10-6.
The first period looked familiar as the Enforcers jumped out to a quick lead as Ahmed Mahfouz scored a point in his 26thstraight game. However, five seconds later Patrik Zilak was able to even things up for the Dashers sneaking one by Nick Niedert. The Enforcers answered back twice more as Stepan Timofeyev scored on a tic tac toe play that saw Ondrej Misovic earn his first point since coming over in the trade to the Enforcers, followed by a backhanded shot by Cameron Yarwood to put the Enforcers solidly ahead 3-1 for the remainder of the first period. The Enforcers outshot the Dashers 14-5 through one as well.
The second period didn't see any scoring, but the fisticuffs picked up. Brandon Vuic and Taylor Cutting tussled and then one second later Ahmed Mahfouz and Dustin Henning went at it. The crowd certainly got riled up, but it wasn't enough to change anything on the scoreboard, as period two ended exactly the same as period one with the Enforcers hanging on to their 3-1 lead. The lead in shots on goal was maintained as well as Elmira ended the second with a 25-17 advantage.
It took half a period, but then the red light special began as the Dashers opened up the scoring at 12:36 with a goal from Jared Henderson. It would then go back and forth as Sean Reynolds scored a hat trick in under 5:00 of playing time, interrupted by goals from Daniel Martin and Taylor Cutting. To say Reynolds return was a success would be an understatement.
The Enforcers claimed all nine points on the weekend and now await another three game series against the top ranked team in the FHL, the Carolina Thunderbirds. Tickets for next weekend are on sale now by calling 607-734-PUCK.
