Elmira Enforcers News Release
ELMIRA, NEW YORK - The First Arena halls are buzzing again as the Enforcers continue to build their roster adding a second netminder to the team in Troy Passingham.
Passingham brings along with him a knowledge of not only how to win, but two championship seasons. In addition to titles, Troy brings along a strong game and some very impressive numbers in his time in the FHL. Passingham played only eight games in the FHL holding a 2.30 Goals Against Average and a .935 save percentage with the Danville Dashers in 2015-16.
When asked about what made him interested in coming to Elmira Passingham was quick to respond "I was in a bit of a limbo area and I had a lot of calls from (head coach) Brent (Clarke) last year and I happened to be in Macon (of the SPHL). We ended up with five guys from Brent's team who told me really great things and so this year we've got the chance to work together."
Since leaving Ryerson University in 2016, Passingham has won a championship with the Macon Mayhem in 2017 and played 20 games with them again last year before being an emergency call up to the Atlanta Gladiators. This was not the first time Troy had seen ECHL time as in 2010-11 after completing the season with the Sarnia Sting of the OHL, Troy played one game with the Florida Everblades after being an emergency backup for the Detroit Red Wings when Chris Osgood was injured.
In his time in Juniors Passingham captured a Memorial Cup alongside NHL stars Taylor Hall, Adam Henrique, Cam Fowler, Ryan Ellis, and goaltending partner and 2018 Stanley Cup Winner Philipp Grubauer. "I was extremely lucky to have the chance to play for the best OHL team ever and win a Memorial Cup in Windsor." Troy said.
"Troy will be a top goalie in our league. He is a proven winner." Coach Brent Clarke said about Passingham. "He has won everywhere he's been. He had a Memorial Cup in Windsor and an SPHL Championship in Macon in 2017. It gives the players a great deal of confidence knowing your goaltending is solid and that you have a guy back there who can steal you games."
The Enforcers drop the puck on their first season at home Friday, November 16th at First Arena. Season tickets as well as sponsorship packages for Elmira's first season of FHL hockey are still available now by contacting First Arena directly at (607) 734-7825.
