
Encarnacion Inks Deal for '06

New Haven County Cutters News Release
West Haven- The New Haven County Cutters announced today Outfielder/Designated Hitter Orlando Encarnacion has re-signed for the 2006 season. The six foot righty appeared in 76 games for the Cutters last season batting .261 with 28 RBI's.
Encarnacion signed as a nondrafted free agent by the New York Mets in 1997 and played four seasons in the Mets organization. The Bronx, NY native had been used as a pitcher for the past six seasons before making the switch to an everyday position player in 2005. Orlando had a career pitching record of 23 wins and 19 losses with a combined 4.70 ERA. Encarnacion pitched for the Cutters in 2004 appearing in 15 games. In his first season as an outfielder Orlando recorded 7 outfield assists in just 48 games.
"Orlando worked real hard to become our everyday right fielder last season. His hard work continued as he had a great second half of the year at the plate. He showed that he is ready to compete for an everyday position for the 2006 season." Manger Mike Church said.

The Cutters kick off the 2006 season on May 25th as they travel to take on the Brockton Rox. The Cutters will play their home opener on May 29th against 2005 Champion, Worcester Tornados.
