The Elmira Pioneers scored nine runs through the first three innings and chased Glens Falls starter Neil Fryer (Siena) from the game. The loss is fryer ¬â¢s first of the season and was charged with nine runs on eight Elmira hits. Matt Holling (Corning C.C) earned his first victory of the season striking out 4 batters while allowing seven runs on nine Golden Eagles hits.
Elmira ¬â¢s Zac Bellinger (VCU) sparked a four second inning for the Pioneers as he hit his first home run of the season in his first at bat of 2011. Ryan Normoyle (Washington) and Justin Lamborn (West Chester) each drove in a pair of runs in inning as Elmira would take a 5-2 lead heading into the third inning. Elmira and Glens Falls would trade runs through the first three innings as Elmira would jump out to a 9-3 lead.
The Golden Eagles would make it interesting scoring two runs in eighth inning as Wes McBride (UNC-Greensboro) would get a groundball out to seal Elmira ¬â¢s 10-9 victory. Normoyle finished the night 3-5 with 3 RBI, while Lamborn and David Bishop (Mississippi St.) drove in two runs apiece.
