Tyler Plantier (UC San Diego) put the Pioneers up 1-0 with an RBI single. The Pilots would respond with a run of their own in the top of the second to tie it up at one.

The Pioneers would be up 3-1 thanks to an RBI single from Rob Perteet (Samford) that brought in Zeke Lewis (Kentucky) and Storm Wilson (Kentucky).

At the top of the third, the Pilots would take advantage of an Elmira error to bring the game back to within one run as the score would be 3-2.

The Pios would put up four runs in the bottom of the fourth thanks to a RBI single by Plantier and a bases clearing single by Lucas Denney (Seattle U.) to put Elmira up 7-2.

Plantier stayed hot throughout the game as he would again hit an RBI single and the Pioneers would score on a wild pitch to put the score 9-2 at the bottom of the fifth.

Abases clearing single would again in the bottom of the eighth thanks to Storm Wilson, to bring the final score 12-2.

Taylor Ahearn (Cal State San Marcos) got the win giving up two runs (both unearned) on four hits, two strikeouts and walking no batters. Skyler Defer (Northeast Miss. C.C.) received the loss for Newark giving up seven runs on ten hits and striking out one batter.

The Pioneers head to Little Falls, NY tomorrow to face the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs at 6:35 p.m.

The Pioneers next home game is Tuesday, July 12th at 7:05 p.m. and it is against the Utica Blue Sox and it is also Demets Turtle Toss night!

The Pioneers will also be hosting Wounded Warrior Weekend next Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, July 15th it is the Wounded Warrior Concert which features a variety of great local bands around the area such as Still Kickin, Rust, Wendy Owens and Renegade. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. and the concert begins at 6:00 p.m.

On Saturday, July 16th, it is the Motorcycle Ride which begins at Dunn Field! Registration begins at 11:00 a.m. and the kickstart is set for 1:00 p.m. Later on, it is the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball Game where your Elmira Pioneers will face off against the Wounded Warrior Amputee Softball League.
