(Greater Sudbury, ON) The Sudbury Five are pleased to announce that Elliott Etherington has joined the team as Associate Coach for the upcoming season. The hardworking and determined 25-year-old Chippawa native, is no stranger to the National Basketball League of Canada.

Having previously spent 4 years coaching in the NBL Canada, he brings his enriched experience to Sudbury. Most recently, he spent the last 2 years with the London Lightning as the Associate Coach & Interim Head Coach where he helped them to two successful seasons including a NBLC Championship.

Prior to his time in London, he was also the Assistant Coach for the Niagara River Lions during the 2015- 2016 and 2016-2017 seasons. Elliott is no stranger to Head Coach Logan Stutz as he was one of Logan's coaches during the 2015-2016 season in which Logan was named the NBLC MVP.

"Elliott is a hardworking, assertive and determined individual who puts the needs of the team first," said Sudbury Five Head Coach and General Manager Logan Stutz. "Coming into his job he has prioritized adding to the impressive culture the Five organization prides itself on. Elliott believes that when everyone works together at the same goal, moving in the same direction and accepts their roles, a team can be successful both on and off the court. Elliott has been described as both collaborative and a players' coach."

"My experience throughout 4 years in this league has taught me that the most important thing is to put in the work," expressed Elliott. "We must be willing as staff to ask the same from ourselves as we do from the players. I've learned so much from all the players I've worked with over last 4 years and I know if we're all in the trenches together day by day, then during the battles we will have each other's backs."

He explains he is ready for Sudbury, "I can't wait to get started in Sudbury. It was evident every time I was here last year that this was a place that supported their team, are passionate about their team and they love where they are from. I cannot wait to incorporate myself into this community and culture, which already seems second to none in the short time I've been here. I would like to thank Dario Zulich and the SWSE organization for believing that I can be one of the pieces that helps bring the Five a championship."
