July 14, 2012 - West Coast League (WCL)
Bend Elks News Release
The Bend Elks outdid their Thursday performance against Bellingham with 9 runs on 16 hits Friday, beating the Bellingham Bells 9-4.
Bo Walter had a home run for the second consecutive night and Will Sparks had a solo Home run himself, as he went 5-5 in the game with 2 RBI and scored 3 times in helping the Elks win 7 of their last 9 games.
On the mound for the Bend Elks, Brent Jones got the start from the University of Cornell and got the win, proving to be an important factor for the Elks. Jones pitched 6 innings, giving up no runs on 2 hits, walking 4 and striking out 3. As the Elks bullpen surrendered 4 runs in the final 3 innings, a good outing from Jones proved to be critical in helping the Elks secure the victory. Daniel Grazzini pitched a scoreless 9th to send the Elks fans home happy, securing at least a series win over the Bells.
The Bend Elks will conclude their 3 game series with Bellingham Saturday looking for the sweep as Kidd Kraddick in the morning from 94.1 FM will be in the ballpark hanging out with Bend Elks fans. It is Smolich Motors buy the gate night; however, all of those tickets have already been distributed. Limited numbers of preferred and box seats are still available for Saturday's game, and may be purchased at the Bend Elks ticket office, which will open at 10:00 a.m. Saturday.
