Kelowna Falcons News Release

Wenatchee, WA: Brandon Marris and Kyle Pearson were two men on a mission on Friday night in Wenatchee in a 5-0 Kelowna Falcons victory.

The win snaps the Falcons three game losing streak and brings the club within three games of top spot in the East Division. The win, coupled with a Bellingham loss, brings the Falcons within one game of the second and final playoff spot.

Marris compiles his sixth win of the season (6-0) recording all but one out, Jace Conrad came in to get the final out of the game in the bottom of the ninth. The win ties Marris with Dayne Quist (2010) and Bryn Card (2009) for most wins by a pitcher in a single season.

Marris tossed a four hit shutout, while striking out six Applesox who didn't get a runner to second base until the ninth inning.

The Falcons would score first in the top of the second after an RBI hit from Patrick Johnson and an RBI sac fly from Preston Gray.

In the top of the fifth, Kyle Pearson would blast a three run homerun, his sixth of the season. The homer is Pearson's first since June 25. With the homerun, Pearson ties the Falcons single season record for homers with Nick Freitas (2008). Pearson would finish with two hits and three RBIs.

In the win, Cameron Alvarado, Pearson, Johnson and Gray all had two hits each as the club bangs out 12 hits total.

The Falcons (19-13) and the Applesox (23-11) will play game three of the four game set on Saturday night. Following Sunday's game, the Falcons return home for Monday to host the Bellingham Bells in a four game series with playoff implications on the line.
