Cowlitz Black Bears News Release
Longview - An RBI single by the Kitsap Blue Jackets put the team ahead 3-2 in the eighth inning, a lead they would not relinquish as the loss drops the Cowlitz Black Bears to 13-19 in league play.
The Blue Jackets got a run in both the third and fifth innings to go ahead 2-0. The Black Bears came back to tie the game up in the bottom half of the inning. Alex Rubanowitz (UC Riverside) had a one-out double that put him and Justin Hazard (UCLA) in scoring position. Austin Wobrock (Orange Coast) then brought in the first run with an RBI groundout and then Derrick Salberg (Lower Columbia) tied the game with an RBI single up the middle.
Yet again, the Black Bears got a great outing from their starting pitcher. Leko Galusha (Lower Columbia) went seven and a third innings, allowing three runs. Nick Richardson (UC Santa Barbara) pitched an inning and a third without allowing a run and Ian Ekery (Central Arizona) retired the only batter he faced.
The Black Bears next home game is Saturday, July 14 against the Kitsap Blue Jackets and it will be Applebee's Saturdays At The Park. It will also be Bud Clary Subaru Night and the first 100 fans will receive a t-shirt courtesy of Bud Clary.
