Bend Elks News Release

Elks starter Jason Wilson threw 8 shutout innings, Riley Tompkins delivered 2 RBI doubles in the 4th and 6th innings, and the Bend Elks got their first sweep of the young season, defeating the Kelowna Falcons by a score of 2-0.

Good pitching was the story of the night, as both starters went deep into the game, both giving their respective team a chance to win. Kelowna starter Ethan Miller didn't allow a run until the 4th inning when Riley Tompkins hit his first double of the night, scoring Jordan Brower from 2nd. Then in the top of the 6th, history repeated itself as Riley Tompkins once again hit an RBI double to score Jordan Brower, extending the lead to 2-0. That would prove to be more than enough on the night for the Elks

Wilson was terrific on the night, pitching 8 innings, giving up just 2 hits in the game, walking 3 and striking out 7. Josh McCalister, who joined the Elks prior to the series and made his season debut, threw a scoreless 9th, striking out two and recording the save.

The 9-6 Elks will take tomorrow off then be back at home on Friday to welcome the Kitsap Blue Jackets into town, first pitch scheduled for 6:35 p.m. Friday is Cap night, meaning the first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a free Bend Elks baseball hat, courtesy of the Center and American Licorice.
