The Bend Elks got their first 3 game sweep of the Corvallis Knights on Tuesday night as the bats officially had their coming out party, getting 11 runs and beating the Knights for a 3rd consecutive night, this time by a score of 11-2.
The Elks got on the board big early, batting around the order and scoring 5 runs in the bottom of the 2nd. Ryan Dunn and Royce Bollinger had back to back hits with 1 out, Dunn was then retired getting caught between 3rd and home. With 2 outs, Stetson Olson reached on error, Nick Wagner hit an RBI single, a hit by pitch and another error led to a 2 run single by Bo Walter to cap the scoring in the inning.
Each team would pick up one in the third, The Knights run courtesy of 2 singles and an RBI groundout by Jimmy Allen. The Elks run a result of a 1 out walk, an error by the pitcher let him get to 3rd, then an RBI single by Stetson Olson got him home. The Elks got another one in the 5th to extend the lead to 7-1 courtesy of a double from Royce Bollinger and another RBI single by Olson. Each team would also get a run in the 7th, the Knights courtesy of a solo home run from David Armendariz, and Bo Walter scored in the bottom of the inning on a Sac Fly from Royce Bollinger to make the score 8-2. The Elks would score 3 more in the bottom of the 9th, courtesy of a bases clearing double from Tyler Christian, who finished the series with 8 RBI, helping the Elks sweep Corvallis.
The Elks (15-11) will take Wednesday and Thursday off before opening a 3 game series in Bellingham against the Bells on Friday, 6:35 first pitch. The Elks next home game will be Tuesday, July 12th against the Cowlitz Black Bears.
