July 5, 2011 - West Coast League (WCL)
Bend Elks News Release

The Bend Elks returned home Monday night to host 4th of July festivities and the Corvallis Knights in game 2 of the 3 game series, and thanks to the 12 hits put up by the Bend offense, the Elks were able to beat the Corvallis Knights by a score of 12-3.

Over 3,000 fans turned out to the ballpark on Monday to see the Elks offense really come alive and they are being led by the likes of Tyler Christian and Michael Benjamin. Christian went 2-4 on the night with a triple and had a hand in 7 of the Elks 12 runs. Benjamin also went 2-4 on the night with an RBI and 2 runs of his own.

The scoring came in bunches for most of the night, as the Elks would score 3 in the bottom of the 1st to take an early lead due to RBI's from Bo Walter, Christian, and Royce Bollinger. Corvallis would score 2 in the top of the 2nd and the Elks would get their own in the bottom of the half, making the score 4-2. The next scoring would take place in the 6th where Corvallis would score 1 in the top of the 6th before the Elks scored 5, sending all 9 hitters to the plate in an inning that was capped by Christian's 3 run triple. Bend would push 3 more across again in the bottom of the 8th, but proved to have more than enough to dispose of the Knights and clinch a series victory.

Bend (14-11) will look for the sweep against Corvallis (14-11) tomorrow on $2 dollar Tuesday, 1st pitch scheduled for 6:35.
