Bend Elks News Release
The Bend Elks continued to get on base against the Kitsap Blue Jackets on Thursday night, but repeatedly could not come up with the big hit, falling to Kitsap 6-3.
The Elks had 12 hits on the night, 11 of them against Kitsap starter Stuart Fewel, but could only manage three runs against Fewel, who got the win on the night, who also walked 3 and struck out 4.
The biggest opportunity came for the Bend Elks in the 8th inning. After Shawn O'Brien lead off the inning with a single and Jordan Copeland walked, Parker Guinn dropped down a sacrifice bunt to give the Elks runners on 2nd and 3rd with one away. Facing a new pitcher, Bo Walter hit a line drive right back up the middle that was snagged by Kitsap reliever Mason Stidham, who then threw back to 2nd base to double up Copeland to end the inning.
Copeland went 3-4 in the ball game to lead the team, Bo Walter and Steven Halcomb each went 2-4 with an RBI, and 5 other Elks chipped in a hit each for the Elks, who dropped their 5th consecutive West Coast League game.
