Elks Shutout on Saturday, Fall to Bells 2-0

The Elks and Bells were tied at 0 heading into the bottom of the 6th inning when Bellingham 3rd Baseman Andrew Ely hit a Solo Home Run in to right center field off of Elks starter J.R. Bunda, breaking the tie, and sending the Bells to a 2-0 victory.

The Elks could manage only 6 hits against the Bells two pitchers on Saturday. Starter Corey Carma pitched only three innings in a controlled start, surrendering two of the hits while striking out 3. Davis Engel went the rest of the way for the Bells, pitching 6 innings against the Elks, giving up 4 hits and striking out 6.

The Bend Elks had 2 outs in the top of the 9th when Grant Newton and Shawn O'Brien delivered back to back singles to put the tying runner on base. Unfortunately, Cullen Hendrickson came on as a pinch hitter and struck out to end the game.

The Elks will look to avoid the sweep on Sunday against the Bells, first pitch at 6:05.
