July 21, 2012 - West Coast League (WCL)
Cowlitz Black Bears News Release
Longview: With two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning, Brian Carroll (UCLA) singled over first base to score Austin Wobrock (Orange Coast) and give the Black Bears a 2-1 win in front of the largest crowd of the season at Story Field Saturday night.
The Black Bears brought their first serious threat in the third inning when they had runners on first and third with one out. After a base runner was picked off, Cody Childs (Mt. Hood) hit a hard single to left field, scoring Carroll from second.
Wenatchee tied the game in the fifth inning but one run was all they could muster against Cole Irvin (Oregon), who struck out four in six and two third innings. Taylor Williams (Mt. Hood), pitching on his 21 st birthday, was dominant; he got the win and retired each of the seven batters he faced.
The Black Bears next home game is Sunday, July 22 against the Wenatchee AppleSox. It will be Best Care Local Care Presents Kids Club & Senior Sundays. There will be a $2 ticket discount for all seniors. Kids Club members get in for free and kids run the bases after the game.
