Kelowna Falcons News Release

Corvallis, OR: The Kelowna Falcons would split their doubleheader in Corvallis on Saturday night with a loss in game one; 4-2 and a victory in game two; 3-1.

Game one saw the Falcons score first in the top of the second inning on an RBI single by Kyle Moses to score Jerry McClanahan. They would add another run in the top of the third on Tucker Alexander's first homerun of the season.

The score would remain that way until the bottom of the fifth when the Knights would erupt for three runs off Falcons starter Tyler Hoelzen. The back breaker was a one out, two run double by Nate Roberts. The Knights would add another in the sixth for insurance.

Hoelzen was hit with the loss as the offense compiled just three hits. The Knights not much better recording five.

The loss was the first against the Knights this season.

In game two, it would be the Knights to score first, getting to starter Jace Conrad in the first inning. It would be the only run the home side would get.

The Falcons offense took four innings to get going, but would score a single run in each of the final three innings to record their 24th win of the season.

Conrad was a one man wrecking crew finishing the night with a double, triple, a run scored, a RBI and would record his first win of the summer on the mound throwing five innings and striking out four.

In the fifth Conrad's double would score Moses to tie the game at one.

In the sixth Moses would bring home Kyle Pearson with a single to give the Falcons their first lead, 2-1. Pearson scores for the 33rd time this season, one off the single season record mark of 34 set by Greg Swertfager in 2006.

Then in the top of the seventh, Conrad would triple and then score on an RBI sac fly by Cameron Alvarado.

Phil Maton would throw the final two innings to record his first save of the season.

With the win the Falcons take the seasonal series with the Knights, five games to one. This marks the best showing for a Falcons team against the Knights ever.

The Falcons (24-17) enter the All-Star break a game back of Bellingham for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Division and three games behind first place Wenatchee. Both the Bells and Applesox will play on Sunday before the All-Star break.

The Falcons will host the Kelowna Jays on Monday night at Elks Stadium. The gates will open at 5:30, first pitch at 6:35pm. They will travel to Bellingham on Wednesday night for a pivotal four game series.
