Three Bend pitchers limited Medford bats to two hits and Billy King slugged a tape measure home run to highlight an 11-hit offensive attack to pace the Elks to an 8-2 victory over the Rogues in a West Coast League game at Vince Genna Stadium on Sunday evening.
Jake Thompson induced eleven ground ball outs in six innings of work, earning his fourth victory of the season. Michael Bennett and Rio Gomez pitched three scoreless innings out of the bullpen.
Former Madras High School standout Turner Gill stroked three hits, including two doubles, scoring a run and knocking in one. Brock Carpenter ripped two doubles, recording two RBIs, and Zach Close had two hits for the Elks .
Bend is now 29-20 while Medford dropped to 23-26.
The Elks conclude the 2014 schedule with three games in Corvallis beginning Tuesday evening at 6:40 pm and the final three regular season home games at Vince Genna Stadium against Klamath Falls on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
